ZIP Area Code Scrubber

Upload your ZIP list and phone-number file. The tool extracts each phone's three-digit area code and compares it with the area codes mapped to your ZIP list.

Upload files

Excel (.xlsx) or CSV. Must contain a column named zip. Four-digit ZIPs are padded to five digits.

Important notes

ZIP codes do not have a perfect one-to-one relationship with telephone area codes. A ZIP can map to multiple area codes, and area-code boundaries do not necessarily follow ZIP boundaries.

This project uses a local reference CSV in data/area_codes_by_zip.csv; it makes no API calls for each phone number. Before production use, replace the starter reference with a complete, licensed dataset. ZIPs absent from the reference are sent to zip_review.csv and do not silently count as a confirmed mismatch.

For security, use HTTPS, keep the data and tmp folders outside public access if your hosting layout permits, and do not upload files containing information you are not authorized to process.
